The Briggs Group, leading suppliers of off shore marine services, enlisted ESL to supply new dustless blasting equipment to aid the maintenance and refurbishment of ocean buoys.
Used in the harshest of marine environments, the steel buoys (measuring approximately 3.5 metres in width) are blasted and painted every five years to increase their life span and ensure corrosion prevention.
Our solution, a Torbo XL320 offers significant improvements in the process of surface preparation producing a SA 2.5 profile prior to painting, enabling the Briggs team to blast back to bare steel at low pressure eliminating any need to use UHP 40,000 PSI.
Based in Fife, The Briggs Group have more than 40 years in the marine industry and have operations throughout the UK, the Caspian region, the Middle East, West Africa and South America. They refurbish close to 220 buoys each year at their Burntisland workshop.
